The Biochemistry major is interdisciplinary and deals with the chemistry of living organisms and their products. Students will (1) demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the composition of matter and the physical and chemical changes it can undergo, (2) design an experiment which applies the scientific method, (3) communicate scientific results and findings, both written and orally, to a diverse audience, (4) evaluate collected data from experiments, and (5) interpret how chemical reactions occur in a living system. They will be able to enter the employment pool directly as an entry level scientist; or, they may choose to enroll in graduate or professional school.

No more than 4 elective credit hours may come from the BIO prefix towards the 6-7 required hours.
Note: CHM 103 , CHM 104 , CHM 105 , CHM 108 and CHM 205 may not be used toward major hours.
