EIS 416 - Seminar in Student Teaching


3 Credit Hour(s) Laboratory: 0 Recitation: 3 Alternative Mode: 0

This course is designed to help students integrate principles of teaching with previous coursework and field experiences and to discuss and reflect upon their experiences in student teaching as they assume the role of teacher. Effective strategies for building strong collegial relationships and resolving interpersonal conflicts are developed and discussed. Professional collaboration strategies such as team teaching and working with paraprofessionals and volunteers are explored. Preparation and submission of the edTPA is a central focus of the course. Sharing and problem-solving around classroom management, professionalism, planning, instruction, legal issues, and position procurement are also addressed. (Spring)

Prerequisite(s): C- or higher in whichever of the following courses apply to the licensure area: EDU 345  (Primary); EDU 346  (Middle and AYA); MUS 373 , MUS 374  (Music); minimum 2.85 GPA.
Corequisite(s): EIS 426 , EIS 427 , EIS 428 , EIS 429  or EIS 430 .
