EDU 380 - Mathematical Literacy and Methods in Middle Childhood

Focus is upon methods and techniques of teaching math concepts and skills in grades 4 through 9. Emphasis is upon building positive attitudes toward math, on-going formal and informal pupil assessment and the use of active hands-on participation. The Ohio Learning Standards for Mathematics will provide the concepts and skills for the method development. Short and long-range planning along with the use of materials and technology will be covered. Research of related professional literature is included. 25 hours field experience required. (Spring)

Prerequisite(s): C- or higher in EDU 310 ; minimum 2.5 GPA.
Corequisite(s): EDU 350
