Sociology, offered within the Department of Psychology and Criminal Justice, helps us look more objectively at our society and other societies. It directs attention to how the parts of society fit together and change, and the consequences of that social change. We are faced with an ever increasingly complex and rapidly changing social milieu in modern industrial-bureaucratic societies. Sociology is the study of society and collective behavior. It is a social science relying on the critical analysis of data and social theory to understand how groups, institutions, networks, and social structures impact the mental and physical well-being of individuals.
