Exercise Science Major

The Exercise Science major, located within the Exercise Science and Sport Studies Department, is designed for students to help meet the dynamic need of health specialists specifically in fitness assessment, exercise prescription and program leadership. The major will equip students with skills and competencies for careers in exercise physiology, personal training, strength and conditioning, cardiac rehabilitation, lifestyle management, corporate wellness, private health clubs, YMCAs, YWCAs, elderly fitness and exercise programming for special populations.

Master of Athletic Training Admission Pathways
Junior 3+2 year Pathway:
Eligible applicants must currently be enrolled at Heidelberg with successful completion of at least 109 undergraduate credit hours; the Master of Athletic Training program prerequisite courses; admission requirements and successful completion of course requirements with a major in Health Science or Exercise Science before being admitted to the program. Accepted 3+2 year applicants will begin the Master of Athletic Training Program in late-July, prior to the semester start. A Bachelor of Science degree is intended to be awarded at the end of year one in the Master of Athletic Training program. Students with prior college coursework are also eligible for this pathway.
Professional Program Pathway:
Eligible applicants must complete a bachelor’s degree in any major, at any regionally accredited institution; the Master of Athletic Training program prerequisite courses; and meet the minimum admission requirements.
