Biology Minor

Students who do not wish to major in Biology but nonetheless have a strong interest in the biological sciences, have the option of pursuing a minor in Biology. Students have substantial flexibility in fashioning their minor according to the areas of biology that hold the greatest interest for them.

Minor Requirements (19 semester hours):

19 semester hours in Biology to include:

BIO 123 - Biology I 3 Credit Hour(s)
and
BIO 123L - Biology I Laboratory 1 Credit Hour(s)
or
BIO 110 - Contemporary Biological Problems 3 Credit Hour(s)
and
BIO 110L - Laboratory Studies in Contemporary Biology 1 Credit Hour(s)

Additional Requirements:

15 additional hours in Biology courses. Students may apply a maximum of 8 semester hours in the following courses toward the minor.

BIO 121 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology I 4 Credit Hour(s)
and
BIO 122 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology II 4 Credit Hour(s)
Or
BIO 363 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I 4 Credit Hour(s) or
and

Note:

No hours from BIO 205 , BIO 311 , or BIO 370 may be applied as credit towards the Biology Minor. Students may not apply both BIO 123 /BIO 123L and BIO 110 /BIO 110L toward the minor. At least 7 hours of the minor must be BIO hours not also counted towards a student’s major.
