The Environmental Science and Sustainability major is interdisciplinary and is designed to prepare students to meet the growing demand for environmental scientists and managers. Through completion of the major requirements students will gain (1) an understanding of environmental issues, (2) skills in a variety of field and laboratory research and monitoring techniques, (3) experiences in research and data interpretation, and (4) communication skills in the sciences. Students will interact regularly with staff scientists of the National Center for Water Quality Research (NCWQR). The NCWQR program centers on collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data necessary for improved water resource management in the Great Lakes Basin and Ohio River basins.
