HIS 332 - Politics and History of the Middle East (W)(S)(G) 3 Credit Hour(s) Laboratory: 0 Recitation: 3 Alternative Mode: 0
This course examines the contemporary Middle East. Country studies will be emphasized as will regional topics such as political, economic, and human development, the Arab-Israeli conflict, disputes between Shi’a and Sunni, political Islam, Islamic militancy, i.e., Jihadism, resources (particularly oil, natural gas, and water), and foreign (especially American) involvement. (Fall odd- even years)
Course Exclusion: Students with credit for POL 283 or POL 383 will not receive credit for HIS 332. Fulfills Gen Ed 2011-2021: Writing, Social Science, Global Cultural
