EIS 281 - Assessment and Grading for Equity in Education


3 Credit Hour(s) Laboratory: 0 Recitation: 3 Alternative Mode: 0

Research and theory of assessment and grading practices from both historical and current perspectives will be explored in this course. Students will analyze and question current assessment and grading practices through an equity lens, as practice is compared to research in this area. To evaluate and report student learning and engage learners in their own growth, students will apply research to the construction of multiple methods of assessment aligned to P-12 content standards. Students will analyze and interpret formative and summative classroom assessments as they monitor learner progress and guide instructional decision making for whole class and individual learners. Students will also explore and research current testing of P-12 students and the impact this has on teaching practices and student learning. ISP candidates take EIS 279 , in place of this course. (Fall, Spring)

Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.85 GPA.
