Environmental and Watershed Science Major

The Environmental and Watershed Science major is interdisciplinary and designed to prepare students to meet the growing demand for environmental scientists and managers. Through completion of the major requirements students will gain (1) an understanding of environmental issues, (2) skills in a variety of field and laboratory research and monitoring techniques, (3) experiences in research and data interpretation, and (4) communication skills in the sciences. Students also have opportunities to interact with staff scientists of the National Center for Water Quality Research (NCWQR). The NCWQR program centers on collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data necessary for improved water resource management in the Great Lakes Basin and Ohio River basins. These research programs are supported by governmental agencies, industries, and foundations.
The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences allows one grade waiver at any level of major or minor requirements.

(Note: students who do not place into MTH 121 will need to take one or more additional math courses prior to taking MTH 121 ).
ENS majors are strongly encouraged to take CHM 201 and/or CHM 210 .
