NRS 450 - Interprofessional Roles in Global Health

This course examines major global health challenges, programs, and policies that impact clinical practices of a myriad of healthcare and other professions. Students will be introduced to the world’s determinants of health and disease that can be best addressed through interconnected teams of providers. Learners will recognize major global initiatives for disease prevention and health promotion. Students will work in teams to analyze current and emerging global health priorities, which may include poverty, emerging infectious and lifestyle diseases, conflicts, natural disasters, terrorism, and humanitarian emergencies. The course facilitates certifications that enable students to identify roles in times of catastrophic events.

Prerequisite(s): Junior or senior standing.
