An introduction to the guiding concepts of music, including basic parameters, key signatures, scales, intervals, triadic harmony and basic four-part writing. Beginning analytical skills will be developed through appropriate score study, sight singing and oral dictation. Three lectures and one guided practice session per week. (Fall)
