EDU 366 - English Literacy and Methods in Middle Childhood and Adolescent to Young Adult

Emphasis will be on methods and materials used to teach language arts in grade 4-12. Students will examine purposes of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and the ways readers respond to literature. A wide variety of literature will be read. Students will learn how to plan and teach language arts lessons, including writing objectives, choosing instructional strategies and materials, grouping students, applying research findings, and assessing diverse learners. Students will have a middle school field placement. 50 hours field experience required. (Spring)

Prerequisite(s): C- or higher in EDU 310 ; minimum 2.85 GPA.
Corequisite(s): EDU 350
