COU 504 - Theories of Counseling

This course is designed to provide students with foundations, contextual dimensions, and analysis of current counseling theories. Students will learn theories of interpersonal and addictions within a multicultural context. This course is designed to help students learn major theoretical systems of counseling and psychotherapy, with an emphasis on how clients in therapy change and how to conceptualize clients’ presenting concerns from theoretical points of view and approaches to develop integrative intervention strategies for dealing with psychological, emotional, career, relationship and adjustment concerns across the lifespan within a diverse population.
