EDU 225 - Introduction to Primary Education


3 Credit Hour(s) Laboratory: 0 Recitation: 2.75 Alternative Mode: 0.25

This course introduces students to evidence-based practices in education. Students will focus on the holistic development of each and every student in the pre-kindergarten to fifth grade classroom and examine developmentally appropriate practices and essential questions current to the field of education. Course content focuses on the perspectives, characteristics, and dispositions of an effective educator. Time in an inclusive classroom enables students to observe, discuss, and apply course content to their understanding of pedagogical philosophies, child development, and developmentally appropriate early childhood practices. 20 hours field experience required. (Fall)

Prerequisite(s): Minimum 2.85 GPA.
